Pool party
This picture just cracks me up. Emma was getting Jonathan ready by taking off his pajamas while I grabbed his clothes, but then to keep him warm she plopped him in the Bumbo and wrapped a blanket around him!!
Because it was forecasted to be 100 all weekend, I bought a little kiddie pool to help keep Emma cool in the backyard. Even with the hot weather, the water was still very cold, so I only dipped Jonathan's toes in to cool him off for a moment! He didn't pull his feet up so he probably thought it felt good for a second!
Our church had a bbq and outdoor games tonight, but we couldn't fathom being outside in the heat again after doing it all day yesterday. Friends offered to take Emma and she went and had a blast on the slip and slide, playing volleyball and eating bbq! We went to a local grill to grab dinner with Papa and Grammy, and Jonathan got to sit in the high chair and gnaw on his teether. When Grammy held him, he was very interested in what she was eating!!

Farm day
Today we had an estate sale at the farm. It was ONE HUNDRED DEGREES. My parents came to town to help with Jonathan and Emma, for which we were so thankful! They came for the morning, but were able to take Jonathan home to get out of the heat. Emma decided to stay and help us. She was offering water to people which was a good thing!!
Ed's aunt JoAn and cousin Jill came to spend some time at the farm, and also got to meet Jonathan!

Balloon Festival
Today was the balloon festival in Tigard. Emma likes to go on the Friday of the festival each year because it's the only day you can get an unlimited ride bracelet, and buying individual tickets for the rides would be insanely expensive!
As it often is, it was another hot day, mid 90s. Fortunately several moms had gathered under a shady tree with blankets, so Jonathan and I hung around there while Emma and her friends dashed around the rides. He even napped!!
Emma REALLY got good use of her ride bracelet! I only got pictures of her on one ride, but it was a Seahawks decorated helicopter so that was perfect!
When Jonathan and I left, she stayed with a neighbor friend who had just arrived, and long story short I picked her up at 8:00 to come home! I'd say 9 hours of riding rides was well worth it :)

Fun in Jonathan's room
Today's pictures all ended up being in Jonathan's room! We started the morning off with puppy checking out Jonathan and rolling on his blanket. They are both interested in checking out the other one!
Jonathan has a new distraction - the window. When I'm trying to feed him a bottle, he will often turn towards the window and open the curtain to peek outside! I asked Emma to film it for us:
Finally, after bath time he was so cute trying to reach really far to get his ducky!! I just love the look of determination on his face.

Last day of school!
Finally, it's here! Our school year was extended due to the 9 snow days we had this winter. So, today was the last day and it was just a half day of school.
I love seeing the before/after school year pictures of Emma. My how she grows!
After school, we met a bunch of other families from school at the park. They ranged from Kinder to 5th Graders! Jonathan got to ride in the baby swing, with some little friends pushing him :)
A little video of swinging:
He also went down the slide several times, though he didn't seem to react to the thrill!

Third grade party
This was the last morning that we'd be giving Emma a ride to third grade as she plans to walk with a friend tomorrow. Last morning (until September perhaps!) of having to make sure Jonathan is up and in his car seat! I thought it was picture worthy.
Today the third grade class had a party to wrap up the year because they didn't take as many field trips as the grade normally takes. It was a very hot day, and the teachers had outside games/activities planned and everyone ate their lunch out there. Each kid received sunglasses and a lei, and they even had a sno cone machine!!
Families were also invited, so Jonathan and I came by for most of the party. Emma and her friends swarmed the baby when they spotted us! Emma was the proud big sister and took him on the swings.

The one game station that I got pictures of her class playing at was Capture the Flag.
Later I saw this selfie on my phone. I had seen Emma and her friend sneaking around the stroller, now I know why!!
Tonight Jonathan tried his first vegetable - sweet potatoes! He looks surprised that he likes them!

Father's Day
We needed a nice, relaxing day for Daddy today. We started off at church, and then stopped and shopped on the way home. After lunch, I said hey, it's a nice day, why not go for a stroll around Bridgeport Village?
We brought the stroller and went to the book store, had dessert waffles, and posed for a picture :)

Oh - and I had to come back to add that Emma changed her first diaper tonight!! She asked if she could, I didn't tell her to do it or anything!

Little Wild One
This morning I took a picture of Jonathan to send to a friend who gave us this outfit. But little did I know he'd be a wild one after his bath too!
Emma got this Sully towel for "Junior" before he was born. She had a matching blanket, so we needed a twinsies picture. Rowr!!

Six months old!
It is really hard to believe that Jonathan has been here for six months already!! The time has really seemed to fly by, but we've also been just that busy so that could be a big part of it too. I call him Joy Boy because this is about his norm!
Check out the matching blue eyes :)
Jonathan had his six month check up today. His stats are:
17 pounds, 6 ounces (50th percentile)
28.5" tall (95th percentile)
Head circumference is 17.5"
Bottom line is he's a healthy boy! He had three shots in his legs, and did really, really well. Distraction and comfort are the key for him!

Cereal!
Now that Jonathan is almost six months old, I am ready to start him on solids. I have been adamant about waiting until six months based on what I was told by the doctors when Emma was a baby about leaky gut syndrome, and recommendations that I've read. So now that we're here, we start with oatmeal!
Ed was home for the afternoon and he got the first feeding opportunity! Jonathan didn't seem to mind the oatmeal at all, but in the end he only ate a few bites - maybe! Now we do this for a few days, and then try a new food!
