For the birds!

Yesterday Emma and I were looking out the front window when a scrub jay swooped down. I said "Look at that bird Emma, he's a pretty blue!" She thought for a second and said "Shirt?" I said no, he doesn't wear a shirt, just like Zoe doesn't!

So we picked up a little bird feeder and some seed to feed the birdies that like to hang out in our yard. Fill 'er up! (Most of the seed made it in the feeder!)

Now we are just awaiting our first customer....

Daddy glasses

Last night Ed got his first pair of reading glasses. I really hope Emma gets daddy's eyesight over mine. I've worn glasses since I was five!

As I was taking a picture of Ed in his new specs, Emma ran over and grabbed her sunglasses and wanted to join in!

Win, Lose or Draw

The other day Emma was trying to teach Zoe how to color!! I guess the crayons didn't fit in her paw very well though.

Then we saw this coloring on the wall. Hmm, was it Emma or Zoe...?

It's a sisterhood -- they're not going to tell!!

Emma got to clean it up today! I realized upon closer look that Emma's lower lip is sticking out in this picture, but I assure you she wasn't pouting! She wanted to take the magic eraser and help wipe the wall!

Feels like spring

What a beautiful day it is today! No wind, no rain, and lots of sunshine that actually started to feel warm! Emma got right to business. First item on the list, setting up her table.

Second, slide on down, wheee!

Third, drive off into the sunset!

Wave of the future

Emma likes to help in the kitchen. These days she totes her stool all over the kitchen, and especially loves cooking things in the microwave. You know, like toys! I just make sure that if she gets it turned on, I check that something "non-microwaveable" isn't spinning around in there! It's probably a good thing we don't have small pets :)

Zoo fun!

Today we took Daddy to the zoo! It was a great day to go - no rain, and no crowds. A bit chilly, sure, but it's January!!

Tractor girl. I love this picture! She kept asking for keys to drive it. Then, every time we passed a zoo vehicle (like golf carts) she wanted keys to drive those as well!

Daddy wants a high five on their ride!

Emma loved "hiding" in this polar bear cub cave. At first there were two boys playing in it. When they left, she went up to them and said "Hide? Hide?" but they left with their mom. It was so funny!

Bongo girl!

This was our first time seeing the new Predators of the Serengeti exhibit. The lions were simply beautiful!!
.
Emma taking Daddy for a spin in the Land Rover. When you look out the front window, you see the cheetah!

Inside the exhibit Emma really liked listening to this phone. It has different roars when you push the buttons!

She's good at belly rubs from practicing on Zoe :)

Look how big that sea lion is!

Daddy and Emma measure their wingspans!

Singing in the rain

Never pass up an opportunity to dance around outside, even if it's raining!! That's what umbrellas are for.

Sunday stroll

Yesterday we took a walk through a park that winds around a creek. Brr! Emma likes to take her time and observe all the sights, while Zoe wants to go, go, go...!!! She loved going over the bridges.

... and watching the ducks swim!

Oh baby!

Today I got to meet my friend's 2 month old daughter Ana. What a little snuggle bunny!

Emma, however, wasn't as impressed with the baby. Here's a closer look at her face when we were trying to get her to join in the picture! I was telling Ed that Emma really seemed to "notice" when I was holding the baby but didn't want to come see her or anything (granted there were two dogs that she was really enjoying chasing!). Hmm, a tad jealous I wonder?!!

Crowns and cupcakes

This morning in bible study class Emma made a starry crown. They were learning about the three wise men bringing gifts to baby Jesus! It's a beauty!

When we got home from our classes, our friends had left some birthday treats at our door! We missed a second birthday party this weekend, and so Brett and his mommy brought Emma her own treat bag and a cupcake! Emma wanted to dive in right away, but she had to wait until after lunch to eat the cupcake and candy. So, of course I had to get a picture of the aftermath!

Happy new year!

We had some family fun over the new year's weekend! We attended a baby shower, watched football, ate good food, played games and got to visit with lots of family and friends!

Emma got to play with her cousins Noah (4) and Jude (2). Do you know how hard it is to get a picture of three little squigglers?!! These are actually the best I could do :)

Playing cribbage with cousin Matt!

Then we were off to see Great Grandpa where we had four squigglers! Kaitlyn (almost 5), Ronnie (7), Emma (2) and Miranda (13). They are just half of the great grandkids!

Feeding the neighbor chickens some tortilla chips. Emma really liked to "bawk" at them!

Strumming the guitar with Aunt Judy!
