Last night we were playing in Emma's room, and she did a quick roll from her back to her stomach. She jumped up and cried out in pain. She cried and cried and wouldn't let us look at her arm or touch/move it. We thought it might be dislocated, but decided to see a doctor since Emma was still so upset a half hour later. It was after 8:00 so we had to head to the emergency room.
We waited about 20 minutes in the waiting room and then met with a nurse to give all the details. We went back to a room and Doctor Bob came by to look at Emma's arm. He ordered an x-ray, so Emma and Daddy went back and got some pictures of her bones. This was kind of neat for her! We have been reading a library book where Franklin (a turtle) has to get an x-ray of his shell. She also got an x-ray coloring book and crayons, but lamented that she couldn't color with just one good arm.

Doctor Bob said there were no breaks, but they were going to put a splint on to make sure the sprain was stabilized. The splint is part cast on the bottom, and wrapped with an elastic bandage up to her elbow. When the gal wrapped her arm, she kept telling Emma she was amazing! She told her she must be five, not three. I think the flattery was lost on Emma at the time though!
Doctor Bob also took his pen and drew on Emma's bed to show us what was going on in her arm! It is in the cartilage area of her wrist, but because it's by the growth plate they want to make sure it heals properly to avoid future problems as she grows. We will go see our doctor in one week to make sure things are looking good!

We got home from the hospital at 11:00 last night. She slept very well, only waking up one time at 3:30. I gave her some ibuprofen and she fell right back to sleep.
This morning she was showing her "plint" to Zoe. She has complained of it hurting several times, and she just had her next dose of ibuprofen. Hopefully that helps! Needless to say we will be taking it easy for a while!
