Trick-or-Treat

Emma was a little pumpkin today! Well, she's often our little pumpkin, but today she really looked like one.
.
Last year's costume (same purse!).

Funny doggy!

The gang waiting for our first trick-or-treaters! (We only had 13.)

We had to let Emma come to the door too! (Nevermind that the dogs ran down the street chasing 2 trick-or-treaters that had just come to our door! They came back...)

Hairstyling 101

1. Have lots of hair.

2. Remove ponytail holder from the boinger atop your head.

3. Eat oatmeal for breakfast, and get it all over your hands.

4. Rub said hands through your hair for maximum effect.

5. Smile, and voila!

Emma is also finally getting to the point where she can toss the ball for Zoe. Zoe has to chase her around for it sometimes, but it's progress! She also picked out these Seattle Mariners overalls to wear today. She just grabbed them from her pants drawer. I think she misses baseball season already!!

Wednesday

Good evening! We managed to take the two wieners on a walk today. I sort of felt like Santa with Dancer and Prancer pulling my stroller-sleigh. It was a bit of a challenge at times holding two retractable leashes while pushing Emma, but we made it. Emma even laughed a few times, I'm sure she thought it was funny to follow the two doggies! Then, wouldn't you know it, the dogs found both a squirrel and a cat to chase after today! I'm lucky I held onto them!

Isn't it phantastic? The Philadelphia Phillies phinally won the World Series! If you can see in the picture, Emma is trying out a new hair styling product: peaches!
.
This was Emma's first time catching the W.S. Last year she slept through most of Boston's win...

Then it was time for a bath, and some cuddle reading time with Daddy. Followed by... wrestling with Juniper and her pillow. This is part of her daily routine now!
.
Ah, finally it's quiet around the house. The dogs love to wrestle each other too, but they have settled down for the evening. Thank goodness!

Recent pictures

Beep beep, here I come! Emma got this Cozy Coupe this weekend (a garage sale find from Grammy and Papa)! There are no pedals - you push it with your feet (a la Fred Flintstone!) - but she is too little to do that yet. So, for now we just push her around very slowly so she doesn't slide through the hole underneath! She loves riding in it, and she also likes to push the car around herself, crashing into the walls along the way!

Hey look, I'm already a hockey mom!

Tonight our little friend Benjamin came over for a few days. The dogs were content on the couch with their chewies, and Emma wanted to go check it out! It should be very interesting tomorrow when I try to walk two dogs and a stroller!!

Sunday fun day

Wow, today is such a gorgeous fall day! We went to the park for a bit to play while we have this weather!

Ooh look, pretty leaves!

Who's that crossing over my bridge?!

I love to swing!
.
Atop the curvy slide, and coming down. Wheeee!

Earlier we were at a store with a whole train yard set up. Emma liked the choo-choos! We can hear them blowing their whistles from our house!

Pumpkins: part two!

Today Ed had his final training exercise for his CERT class (bet you wish you lived in our neighborhood in the event of an emergency!). While he was gone, we went to another pumpkin patch with cousin Miranda, Grammy and Papa. This time I got a little pumpkin for us from the field. What a beautiful day it turned out to be!

Hay girl!

Um, you set me down in this field of orange things? What am I supposed to do? Okay, I'm going to feel one...

I see you over there, tractor!

Smile sunshine!!

Going for a wagon ride with the pumpkins... She also picked out her own little pumpkin!!

Miranda took Emma down the slide a number of times. Whee!

Look, a goat!

We even ran into another Athey Creeker there (nice to meet you Cindy!). I'm pretty sure it was warmer than 62 degrees today like the weather forecast out there!

You like-a the sauce??

There are two things that makes Emma rush into the kitchen, and those are when you (1) open the dishwasher, or (2) open the refrigerator! She wants to see what's inside!

So, today she was exploring the contents of the fridge. Just like mom, she loves chocolate. Oh wait, she's never had chocolate! Well, she must like the chocolate syrup bottle then.

Caught ya!

Pants or no pants, that is the question

You should try getting pants on this one, let alone a diaper or changing her even! She has the fastest roll-over time on the changing table, so I get a tad frustrated and I'm just letting her run around without her pants on. This is when I seriously pray for some patience. Hey, at least she has her shoes on, so I hope she won't get cold or anything!

Earlier today we visited my former office. They had a "baby lunch" - this summer there were four babies born alone! It was fun to get to meet the new babes (2 girls, 2 boys) and see my friends. Emma did keep her pants on for this visit though :)

Busy bee

Today was a busy day for Emma! It started with trying to get her oatmeal drum back from Zoe (it's now in shreds). Then trying to tie mom's shoelaces!

Later we went to the library for story time. We're getting better at the songs now! Then it was time to wrestle with Zoe. Zoe's signature move is to kiss Emma into submission :)

(Yawn) Then it was time for an early bedtime (but not on the floor!). Emma wasn't much interested in napping today!

Thirteen months old today!

Today Emma turned thirteen months old. Gosh, year number two is already one-twelfth of the way through! Time flies when you're having lots of fun I guess!

Emma is trying her best to explore the stairs, so the baby gate is a must. She was a little bummed when I put it up today :)

Saturday fun

P-u-l-l ! More tug-of-war games. The girls do this every single day with various toys from Zoe's toy box! It's really fun to watch. Emma laughs her head off! Although, I'm beginning to realize that this might not be the best way to teach Emma how to "share"... Today they were playing with a couple of pieces of rope!

Emma falls down; Zoe wins.

Here Emma and Zoe ride off together into the sunset before bed... Actually one thing to note at the beginning - Emma thinks you give kisses by opening your mouth and leaning in. Zoe LOVES to give her kisses, and so it's pretty gross if you ask me! However, Emma just laughs and laughs when the puppy licks her all the time! I think they call it puppy love :)

Houston - we have a (beginning) walker!

Emma has made great strides (literally!) this week in learning how to walk! Here she is practicing some more tonight:

Just look at the focus and determination on her face. Weebles wobble but they don't fall down! We're so proud of our Emma girl!

.

Thursday pics

Emma really likes a basket full of clothes, clean or dirty! She'll be super helpful in this regard some day!

Emma got to play with her own little purple light saber last night!

Ooh, it's more fun with the lights turned down!

Stat update

I almost forgot to report! Emma had a doctor appointment today. Originally I told her there would be no shots (next round is in January), but then I realized that she needs a flu shot! Since she hasn't had one before, she'll need it in two rounds. So, she had one today and she was such a champ, she didn't even shed a tear! Mama got one too, and I'm happy to report that I didn't shed a tear either! Yay for us strong Ross women!! :)

Anyway, Emma weighed in at 18 pounds, 6 ounces, and her height was 29 inches. (Drawn on the paper mat, so I still don't feel it's very accurate!) We'll go back in mid-November for her flu booster, and I'll see about slipping her on the scale then as well.
.

Don't box me in!

This morning I pulled a storage box out from under Emma's crib. Being the inquisitive sort that she is, she had to come help me go through her bigger-sized clothes.

Then, she just climbed in the box and sat down! She inspected all the clothes nearby, and then kicked back for a few minutes!
