Bricks convention

Earlier this week on the morning news, we saw that there was going to be a Lego convention this weekend.  Since it was supposed to be pouring rain, we thought it would be a good day for an indoor activity!  When we walked through the door, Emma was given a free minifigure (which only the kids received).  Score!

Then she got to partake in the Lego movie.  Can you spot minifigure Emma?!

The convention was mainly models that people had built and submitted, and other booths had retired (read: expensive!) sets you could buy.  Emma's favorite builds to look at were the military and battle scenes!  Then Daddy and Emma picked out a few army accessories that you could purchase, and they came home and built their own army base!

One guy had built a sword and sheath that he let you get a closer look at!

Family fun

Back in November, I won two all-day passes to the Family Fun Center.  They expire at the end of this month, so we needed to use them!

Emma saw some kids playing laser tag on a kids show, and she said she wanted to try it.  Well... these passes included laser tag, so we decided that would be a good way to use them!  She loved it.  They played five times today!  Each session is 20 minutes, and I went through my magazine very quickly.

It was raining outside, but since they could ride anything for free, they took one race around the track.  They were the only car out there, which was probably a good thing since the pavement was very slippery!

We did one round of rainy mini golf as well.  Hey, it's Oregon.  That's what raincoats are for!

We really got our money's worth (ha, $0!) out of the free passes!

Basketball pics

Today our basketball team had their photo session as a team and individual poses.  One of the athletes was out of town, so it's almost our full team!

Lego Movie building event

Today we went to Barnes and Noble for a Lego building event.  We were only confirmed on the waiting list, but the representative had told me that they typically have room for everyone on the waiting list, because some of the RSVPs don't show up!  So that's what we were hoping, and we got in!

I'd say there were about 30 kids there.  Each kid had to draw a number from 1 to 3, and that determined what type of item they were going to build.  Emma drew #1, vehicle!  That was probably the perfect pick for her.  So, you grabbed an envelope and went through the line, collecting the Lego pieces that you thought would work for building your item.

Then, you returned to the rug and got to work.  Emma built a car with some boosters and an antenna on the top.  When you were finished, you could come back to the table and take a picture of your creation in the Lego Movie city of Bricksburg!

The best part - in the end you got to keep whatever you built!
