Gone fishin'

Today Emma got to go fishing with Daddy and friend Tim. She was really looking forward to it! So much so that she got up too early this morning...!

They went to a nearby trout farm and came home with six whoppers! Emma already knows how to exaggerate the size of her catch!

Tonight we went over to Tim and Judi's house for a trout feast! They served it up very delicious, but Emma wouldn't even try it. Darnit! She was proud to have caught dinner though. She did, however, try Judi's avocado pie. It was awesome!

Emma also got to play with their dog Rags. We hoped they would wear each other out, but they were still going strong awhile later. Throw the ball, chase the ball, run, get the ball, repeat!

Let's rock

Tonight Emma and Daddy were practicing for their next big (pretend) gig! (Oh and that's paint on her shirt, but it's the washable kind!)

Earlier Emma wanted to try on her elbow/wrist/knee pads. Someday she wants a skateboard, and so she is always prepared and ready! We figured these would come in handy for her biking first.

Happy Birthday Daddy!

Yesterday was Daddy's birthday! We went out for dinner to the Cheesecake Factory thanks to two cool things - a gift card and coupons for $1.50 cheesecake slices!! It was a real treat.

I told them it was Ed's birthday and they came out singing. (Also it was super sunny, it was glaring in my face!)

Emma tries the strawberry cheesecake, while Daddy has the Reese's peanut butter cup one!

Art show

The last two days Emma has been in and out of the craft stuff, saying she wants to have an art show! Yesterday she started with the markers, and I drew a few lines for a rainbow and she took over from there.

This started off to be a fuzzy caterpillar, but after gluing a few down she got distracted by the "fuzzy balls" and has been playing with those instead!

Today she decided that she would be the canvas!

Now our fridge looks nice and pretty!

Camping week

We went camping for one week at Cove Palisades park over in Central Oregon. As expected it was mighty hot! There's not much shade around camp, but it's near Lake Billy Chinook for cooling off and water fun!
.
The first night. Actually this was the only night that Zoe slept on Emma's bed! Later on she slept on the bench seat. Everyone is still clean here...

.
There were large rocks everywhere. Emma took no time to start climbing them!

.
Monday we went to the lake with PapaGrammyCuz (Emma's mashed name for them!). Emma got to wear her floatie suit. She looked like a body builder so Ed told her to show us her muscles!! She liked splashing in the water once she got used to it.
.
That night Daddy shows Emma the turkey vultures through the scope. They were often circling the camp!

On Tuesday we headed into Madras as I needed to see a doctor. I had an infected bite (probably spider) that turned into cellulitis and needed antibiotics. I had the same thing happen last year so I knew the signs. So we had roamed around town and Emma and Zoe got to play with PapaGrammyCuz. At one store we found a gummy lizard. Emma had seen a couple of little lizards around camp, so we got it to see if she knew it was candy right away. Yum!

.
On Wednesday we actually had to move our campsite a few spots down in the loop. When we made reservations we got 3 days in one spot, then the next 3 at another site! Some family from Bend came to visit us, including a cousin Christian. He is Emma's age but much smaller, as he was born with serious heart issues. He still has another surgery in his future and possibly a heart transplant. It didn't slow him down though!
.
Nosies with cousin!

.
On the way to the park's playground we would pass the camp's amphitheater. Ed asked Emma to perform a show for us. At first she kept saying no, but then she decided she wanted to!

A little performance!
.
Racing Daddy to the top of the rock climbing wall!

On Thursday Papa rented a jet ski to take Miranda out on the lake with. Ed got to drive it for a while too!

We all cooled off in the water.

On Friday we went for a hike at Smith Rock so Emma could see some rock climbers. Daddy has climbed here!! She took a turn on a smaller, more manageable rock.

.
She was most interested in drinking out of the camelbak valve though!

On Friday night we went to Bend and saw Christian again. Here the kids are doing their best racing imitation thanks to his Lightning McQueen toy computer!

These are some sights that we saw. The Crooked River Petroglyph located near our camp.

Just to give you an idea of the towering cliffs around the lake. It was so pretty!

I felt like we were camping in the Grand Canyon!

We always saw little rabbits on the volleyball court when we'd walk down to the playground. Emma wanted to get near them but they would take off running fast when they heard us!

We didn't see any snakes while there (oh darn!), but the first night we got there Ed told Emma that if she saw one to NOT pet it! He'd quiz her throughout the week on that one :)
.
Mountains that we saw on our trip: Mt. Hood, Mt. Jefferson...

.
and Three Sisters!

Today Emma saw the characters on Blues Clues make a "Big Book About Us" and she said she wanted to make one too. So, we gathered all of the brochures we collected on the trip and cut out things that we did or saw! She laid everything out and glued them down!

Brett and Bubba

This morning we got to play with Brett and on his cool play structures. Here's some fun on the horsey swing!
.
Psst, secret time!

Buttercup (or Bubba) got to come outside and play with us for a little while. Emma was so excited and asked to hold her! What a gentle cat to let Emma cart her around like this :)
.
Brett and Emma (try to) give Bubba a drink. Teamwork!
